Welcome to Willow Brook Academy's Primary Program, also known as the Children's House, designed for children between the ages of three and six. This crucial stage of development is characterized by intense cognitive, social, and physical changes, and our program is specifically tailored to meet the needs of children during this transformative period.
At Willow Brook, we believe in learning through active engagement. All of our lessons and materials are thoughtfully designed to provide children with the best possible learning experiences - by doing. Our carefully prepared environment serves as an invitation to satisfy a child's innate desire to learn. Through hands-on activities, children are encouraged to explore the world around them, utilizing all their senses. This approach not only promotes a deep understanding of concepts but also fosters the development of fundamental skills that serve as building blocks for future learning: concentration, coordination, order, and independence.
In their third year of the Children's House program, often referred to as the kindergarten year, children take on a special role as leaders within the class. They assume additional responsibilities and actively support and guide younger students. This dynamic creates a sense of community, encourages empathy, and nurtures a collaborative learning environment. In addition to the classroom experiences, our Primary Program places great importance on outdoor activities. Students spend time outside each day, putting into practice the skills and concepts they have learned in the classroom. Our farm provides a wonderful backdrop for students to observe and experience the seasonal changes firsthand. They engage in activities such as animal care, gardening, nature observation, hiking, and individual reading. These opportunities not only enhance their understanding of the natural world but also foster a deeper connection to the environment.
For incoming Kindergarten students, eligibility is determined based on the cutoff date specified by your town of residence. To ensure your child is adequately prepared for First Grade, we require a minimum of 5 full days of attendance, ensuring they have engaged with all lessons and materials throughout the Kindergarten year.
A Typical Day in our Primary Program is filled with a diverse range of experiences that stimulate intellectual growth, social development, and a love for nature. Students engage in hands-on projects, collaborative activities, and individual work across various subjects, including math, language, cultural studies, and practical life skills. Our dedicated teachers tailor research activities, organize field trips, and provide opportunities for artistic and musical expression, all of which align with student interests and the core goals of our curriculum.
At Willow Brook Academy, we are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for your child's early education. Our Primary Program encourages children to explore, discover, and develop a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Join our vibrant community and embark on a wonderful educational journey where your child's cognitive, social, and physical growth will flourish.
We invite you to explore our Primary Program at Willow Brook Academy and witness firsthand the transformative experiences your child can enjoy. Together, let's cultivate a love for learning and lay the groundwork for a successful future.
